Saturday evening

Hey guys,

Not a lot going to in my world today. I'm just relaxing, drinking a beer and playing some poker. The P button on my keyboard appears to be stuck, so I'll try and not write any words with a P from now on.

I am drinking a molson beer only available in Ontario. You BC boys aren't missing much. It's a lager, it does not have much of a flavour, and it's chea..... umm, costs very little money. I got 12 beers for 14 bucks. You can't get that in BC. It sucks because all the good stuff, which is very limited here, costs twice as much. So a broke student like myself does not have much of a choice. Life goes on.

I can't wait to get back to Victoria for a visit. I literally think about it everyday, and I still have four months to go. Oh no... I just got it all in with ace king vs a short stack, he had 10 2. The board went 8 Ace 4, 2, 10. Haha, that was great. I'm still alive, that's all that matters.

I have my 2nd writing course tomorrow. I look forward to getting my first writing assignment. Everything I write for my class I will write here to let everyone read. Why not right? So once I get some more info I'll let you know.

(this P things is going to get tough) The Leafs of Toronto start training soon. They will have games before the regular season starts. I wish to attend some of these games, as they will be less money than regular season games. That being said, My Uncle Tom suggested a great idea to me. He said if I want to save some money, try and buy 'standing room only' tickets. He said these tickets go on sale a few days before the game and are only 40 bucks! Sure I'd have to stand the whole game (I'd most likely do that anyways) but who cares! Even the worst of tickets would cost four times that much. Thanks Uncle Tom! I'll be standing at the ACC in no time!!

I think Grant and I and a few friends are going out tomorrow night, so I may not be home to tell everyone how my class was. If not tomorrow then Monday for sure. God bless!

pppPPPPpppppp... yeah, still sticky... I blame the cheap beer.

Brief but powerful

Despite the title, this blog is NOT about ability in the bedroom.

I was in my apartment surfing the net, waiting for my clothes to dry downstairs in the laundry room. I looked outside and saw dark clouds moving in, and the sunny day moving out. I go down stairs to take my laundry out, I pull out the first t-shirt and begin to fold when a crack of lightning hit so loud it made me scream like a girl. If I was 65 years old, that's it. Im dead. It was heart attack loud. Anyways, by the time cleaned up my urine off the floor and finished folding my laundry, and got back up to my apartment, the storm had fully arrived. Wind blew very hard for about 10 minutes along with torrential rain. Heavy thunder and lightning followed. I leaned out my balcony door for 10 minutes and got completely soaked. I could not take my eyes off the storm. After about 15 minutes or so it calmed down, and the worst was over. I just read this article and was blown away (bad pun).

DURHAM, Ont. - At least one person is dead after violent storms carrying tornadoes tore through Ontario.

There are reports of funnel clouds causing damage in at least three communities and large swaths of the province, including Toronto and Hamilton, are under tornado warnings.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says it's an ongoing situation and adds people should find safe shelter.

Several buildings are damaged and trees are strewn throughout the southwestern Ontario town of Durham after a possible tornado touchdown.

The West Grey Police Services confirms one person was killed in Durham during the storm, but did not provide details.

York Region police say they have reports of injuries after a possible tornado sighting near Newmarket, north of Toronto, but nothing has been confirmed.

Environment Canada is also reporting a possible tornado moved eastward north of Toronto through the Vaughan area.possible

Good afternoon

Hey all.

I can finally sleep! The weather has cooled the last two days and it's comfortable enough at night now, I can actually catch some Zs. Cool!

I expected the rocky mountains to be a little rockier than this.
That John Denver was full of shit!

Here are two main differences between Toronto and Victoria.

1.
Victoria has Mountains. Toronto does not. Living in Victoria, I was surrounded with beautiful snow covered mountains. Same goes for Vancouver. They never really served a purpose for me, as I don't ski, snowboard, hike or bike. But now that I am settled in here living in the big smoke, that is the one thing that I miss. I miss driving down the Old Island Highway, looking over at Mount Baker and saying 'Hey buddy, you're pretty clear today aren't you? Hey little buddy? Yeah... you're nice.' In Toronto I have the CN tower, however Toronto already has enough creepy people walking around talking to them selves, so the tower and I have yet to speak.

2.
Cabin vs Cottage.
Yes, the second great debate. The west side folk call them Cabins, us east mother fuckers call them cottages. God forbid someone out here mention the word cabin. Police have been given orders to taser on the spot if they even hear that creepy cheesey saying. A friend of mine said he was going up north for the weekend, to visit some friends on the lake. I asked if they had a 'cabin' up there and his response was, 'No. Its a cottage.' And he was serious. So whose side are you on? Cabin or Cottage?

haha, ok that was dumb. Another great day here in Toronto. Lovely lovely.

I am trying to update everyday, as one of my recommendations from my writing teacher... so yeah.

I watched two movies the other day. First was 'The Rocker' starring Rainn Wilson. The first 15 minutes were amazing. I was laughing so hard at some points, I had to pause the movie. It kind of slowed down, but still had some great lines later on. Not a great movie movie but still a fun watch.

Pride and Glory. I had no idea what it was about going in, and I freaking loved it. I know anything with Edward Nornton is going be good, at the very least well acted. He did not disappoint. Colin Farrell and Mr. Jon Voight also put it great performances. I thought it was very well shot, but maybe a little to shaky for me. I am more of a steady cam guy for the most part. But overall, I thought it was very good, and well worth the 5 bucks I paid.

I gotta go, its laundry day. Yeeaaahhh!!

Rules of Brads blog. First time readers. Understanding Brad.

Rules of Brads blog. First time readers. Understanding Brad.

1. Do not take anything I say seriously.

2. I have a funny way of looking at life. At least, I think it's funny. I write about how I see my life, from my point of view. My POV if you will. That's for all you movie buffs out there. Like my friend Steve. Hey Steve.

3. Often times I will make inside jokes to only one person, just like that Steve line in rule number two. I'm sorry about that.

4. I drop the F bomb a lot. Sorry Mom.

4.5 I do not have much of a writing background. I failed English 12. I am not a very good speller, and I have poor grammar at times. I will and do try to improve everyday. This is something I really enjoy doing and I do take it seriously.

5. Do not take anything I say seriously.

6. I do not blog about one thing in particular. It is based on my move to Toronto, going to Second City, following my heart, and everything in between. Random stories, comedy bits, school updates, life updates. This is what it's like to live in Brad MacDougall world.

check it

yo

oh god, i just tried to kill a bug by spraying it with raid, but I sprayed it to0 close to my new fan, and i raided myself in the face. Perfect.

Its another cooker tonight, even hotter than last. The city of Toronto was issued a humidity and smog alert today. As if I need another reason not to go outside.

Yesterday was my first day of writing class. Not much happened. Our teacher just went over basics of what we are going to be doing. Each class is three hours long, and the course lasts 7 weeks. The first thing he said was try and write something everyday, something that I have already been trying to do, with moderate success. He said it doesn't have to be anything in particular, just as long it its something. Seems easy enough. After he finished that, we went around the room introducing ourselves. We were told to name any sort of writing classes or courses we have done, and other classes we are taking or have taken at SC, and to also say why we wanted to be a writer. From what I can remember, this is what came out of my mouth.

My name is Brad. I am also taking Improv A and will be taking the Stand up course next term. I really don't have any writing experience, other than the fact I write my own blog, so that's something... uhh... yeah, I didn't even take English 12 for peat's sake (laughter... my teacher asks, really??) Yeah, I didn't have good, uhh the best grades so to speak (slightly nervous, i fucked up my sentence) But yeah, I've always kind of been interested in writing. I'm a huge Candy and Farley fan, and I read Chris Farley's book, uhh, well the, yeah his book (again slightly nervous, cant talk) In the book it said that guys like David Spade and Adam Sandler got started on SNL as writers before they were promoted to the cast. That kind of blew my mind. Also, I do want to do stand up in the future, and I figure it would be a huge asset to be able to write my own stuff. I kind of see it as another tool in the belt so to speak, a long with the improv.

Teacher: Right on, yeah a lot of people get started off that way (referring to Sandler and Spade). For every guy that is front of the camera like that on a show like that, there's another behind it doing the writing. Great, thanks Brad.

After that we cut class short and went down the block to the main stage to check out the the show. It runs every night and its called 0% Down, 100% Screwed. The show was freaking amazing, it was really really good. I could tell a lot of my class (12 of us all together) were kind of blown away and frightened by it all. How the fuck can I write stuff that funny?!? But what they don't know is that the show was written through improv for the most part, which is the Second City way of doing a show like that. The cast will start off by doing an improv, putting them selves in a situation and going for it. They stop, write down what worked, drop what didn't, and do it again and again until its set. Some stuff in the show was totally 100% improvised as well. I have been around enough to see it when it happens. So for the most part everyone was intimidated. Not I. I was inspired! I cannot wait to start the improv class. This is the exact format in which I think I will really excel. I'll do an improv sketch 20 times, each time different and each time doing something goofy and silly like I do. Then I take the best parts of all of them and make one kick ass sketch. Fuck yeah. I haven't even had a single improv class yet and I already feel it. This is great.

Speaking of great, it just started to rain. Hopefully that knocks the humidity out of the air so I can sleep.

I kind of made a friend. We sat next to each other at the show. His name is Manjit. He's brown. He has a degree in calculus or something, and decided to quit that do go to Second City. Good choice my friend, good choice. He seems like a nice guy. There are two other guys who seemed funny and likable. I forget their names, but one looks very familiar. I probably don't know him, but I got a weird feeling that we will get along. Who knows.

Improv tomorrow, I'll recap after class. Good night

Oh yeah I wanted to end with a bit I have. Walking around my neighbourhood at night is always good for a laugh, or something like that.

I see this short skinny, really boy looking girl from like Thailand or the Philippines, im not sure. She is a crackhead, a hobo, and very aggressive. She is wearing what looks like a neon green one piece bathing suit with dirty white shorts hiked up past her belly button. Someone reads Vogue.

I had just gotten off the street car, and am waiting to cross the street to get home.

Hey, do you have any spare change?

No.

Do you have a smoke? (She is smoking a cigarette)

No.

Do you wanna a date?

WHAT? No... no... sorry.

I'm not a doctor, but I would say that her offer for a 'date' was actually an offer for 'sex' in exchange for money. I could probably get past the dirty crackhead ladyboy hooker thing, buuuut I'm not attracted to smokers. Sorry hun.

The fact she was smoking while asking for a smoke reminds me of Brad Arnold (I love you) and his 'conversation' with a hobo outside of BBJs on night. Hahaha, maybe I'll tell that story tomorrow, but I have to sleep.

Good night.
