Hey guys! It has been a crazy couple of days, and have not had a lot of time to post anything new. Well, I spent Saturday-Monday in Burlington, about 30 minutes outside of Toronto. I was just hanging out with Drew, having a good time. We went bowling and drank and sat in his hot tub and relaxed. It was pretty much awesome. I arrived back in Toronto Tuesday. I didn't have a place to stay, but I had an idea where there was a nice hostel and hotel right next to each other. Unfortunately, they were both booked. So I really had no idea where I was or what I was doing. I was just walking around, looking and taking it all in. I finally spot another hotel, but it looked fancy. Real fancy. Cheapest room they had. 356 dollars a night. Fuck that. So i continue my adventures. The dude behind the counter told me that there was a cheaper hotel a few blocks away and gave me, what turned out to be, shitty directions. I walked the two blocks he told me, and there was nothing but apartment building and some shitty looking Indian food place that didn't have a single person in it. So, needless to say, after wondering around the city for the past hour or two, in the hot weather, I was starting to get pissed off. I just wanted a fucking bed to sleep in. And then it hit me. I saw it out of the corner of my eye. I started walking, walking walking, I could see the name. Backpackers Inn Hostel. WOOHOO! I got myself a single private bed for 75 bucks and was happy as a jay bird. The dude at the desk says he's going to fire up the BBQ and I am welcome to throw something on, or buy a burger or dog from him. Awesome. He also says the Pub is opening up at 7pm, and its cheap beer night. Really Awesome! I pass on the BBQ and go to the Toronto Blue Jays game. I have never been inside of SkyDome aka the Rogers Centre. It is pretty amazing. Words cannot explain, but I really recommend a visit to watch the Jays play. It is worth every penny. Speaking of pennies, that's how much the tickets cost compared to hockey games. I paid $55 for my ticket, and it was one of the best you could get. I was one row behind the Jays dugout. I was in heaven, except the fact that I was in awe of dudes. If they were hot chicks AND good at baseball, and be freaking out for sure. Anyways, it was really cool. They Jays crushed the Reds 14-1. I got to see Ken Griffy Jr hits endless bombs in batting practice. One of the coolest things Ive ever seen in my entire life. Truly amazing.
So, after the game, I headed back to the hotel to have a beer. I was going to have a few at the game, but they were $9.25 for a fucking can of Bud or Bud light. So i decided to hold off for a while. I get to the Inn, go to my room for a few, and head back down stairs. Now, the Pub is on the main floor. Half of the floor in for checking in and out and stuff, then through a little sliding door, the other half is for getting wasted. They had a pool table, chairs, tables, a little dance floor, and of course, a bar. So i asked the bartender if there was anything on special, even though the dude told me when I was checking in that it was cheap beer night. The bartender says, to my surprise, Its cheap beer night. Sweeeeeet. Jugs of Draft. $12. Swweeeeet. So I grab a jug of Moosehead, which is awesome by the way, and make my way outside (it was still like 25 degrees inside) There are about eight to ten picnic tables outside. They are all taken some way or another. Id say there was 40 people outside and 20 people inside. So, i see these two dudes, drinking a jug, and decide to ask them if I can sit down. Without hesitation they say in funny accents, Sure Mate! Ave a see dun dar. I just assumed they said sure mate, have a seat down there. So I did. They dudes were from Ireland, named Rob and Owen. We sat and drank and got along real well. After we both finished our jugs, they said there were going to go. I didn't care really, cause I was kinda tired and a jug deep, so I was smiling either way. Owen gets up to go the washroom, and returns with another Jug. You can see where this is going. One Jug Two Jug Thee Jug Four! We Drank Till We Couldn't Drink No More! Good times had by all. We were all wasted. By the end of the night, It was me, my two Irish mates, another Irish, a Scott, a Frenchman, and a dude from Germany. We were laughing, telling jokes. It was a good time man, real good time. I got to bed around 3. I had to meet my Uncle Tom in the morning at the Days Inn across town. That was rough. I didn't check out of my room until Noon, even though I "HAD" to be out by 11am. I grabbed a sandwich a finally met up with him at around 2. I was pretty hurtin still, so I grabbed a nap and we went to the Jays game again last night. They lost 6-5. But It was a good game, and Griffy Jr ripped a two run home run. He got a standing O. It was pretty awesome.
So yeah, those have been my last few days. I am going to stick it out in Toronto for the next little while. I still have to check out the school and places to live and work. Once I get a good idea of what it'll take for me to move here, I will have a better understanding of what ill need. Oh, btw, the Brad shirt is a big hit in Toronto. The "Hey Brad"s were flying out left right and center. AND, Me and this really hot chick were making eyes on the subway, and I stand to get off, and she says, See you around.. Brad.. and smiles all sexy like. So I decided to make 15 more shirts, hats and pants with my name on them. Ill let you know how it goes.
I hope everyone is well. It has been a week now. I miss everyone a LOT. I feel as if I have been gone a month, not a week. Its crazy. I almost feel like this, right here, in downtown Toronto is where I am supposed to be. I can feel so many things. I kept seeing this door being kicked down in my dreams last night. Its like the next few steps are the most important of my life to this date. I do believe that. I am excited and nervous, and I haven't even been to see my school yet.
Wish me luck.
I am going to lunch with Uncle Tom, then to the hockey hall of fame (dream come true for me) and then, another JAYS GAME! Three days straight! I freaking love it! You can buy tickets for $9.00! NICE BUCKS! Great seats too. You can see EVERYTHING. Best nine bucks I've ever spent. Funny thing is that it cost more for a beer then it did for the price of my seat yesterday. that's fucked up.
Good luck all, Ill try and update soon!!
