Hello

Hey all.

I hope everyone is well. I do miss you a lot.

Things are ok here in Toronto.

I just wanted to write a quick update on school.

My first term at Second City is coming to an end. Next week is my last week in both classes. Here is my review.

Writing 1:

The writing class has been going well, however there have been struggles. A lot of people in my class are naturally gifted writers. They use big words, have amazing spelling and grammar, and tell beautiful detailed stories.

I do not.

That has been the most challenging part. I feel without a doubt I have the lowest IQ in the room, hands down, no questions asked. I do NOT fit it that way.

BUT I do try my best in class and most of all, I try and have fun. I have learned so much in the 8 weeks. I hope to continue this part of my life. It does interest me greatly, however it will require countless hours of practice and patience in order for me to succeed. I am just getting started and don't plan on giving up any time soon.

Improv A:

The class started slow, but has picked up. I have been challenged as an Improviser and as a person the last 8 weeks. There is more talent in the room than I first thought. The one thing that we have really been focused on in this class in 'Environment work'. Not it's not all that fun (I've had a blast) but it is something a good improviser needs to do. It pretty much boils down to mime work. How well you can represent something without props, such as drinking a cup of hot coffee, folding laundry, or brushing your teeth. It sounds very easy and basic, yet if not done with 100% commitment and accuracy, it will kill an improv sketch before it begins. It is the basic of the basics. In other words,

You must learn to crawl before you can walk.

TERM 2.

Early registration starts OCT. 4th. I am going to take the following.

IMPROV B.

STAND UP 101. <---------- (The reason I moved to Toronto is in that class. I am already so fucking scared. This is it. It ends with me doing a 5 minute bit on stage at a comedy club. I will KILL IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Classes start OCT.25th and end early/mid December. Just in time for Christmas and a visit home.

I hope to continue to update.

I miss this, I really do.

Love.
